In the News

There is a nice article today  - Digital Scrapbooking: Look,Ma, No Scraps!

I'm very excited since Gregg Ellman mentions FxFoto and he even quoted me - I feel famous! I don't know if it is in the print version of the Star-Telegram which is located in Fort Worth Texas but if any of you are in that area and see it, please let me know.  He has lots of great resources and examples so it definitely worth checking out.

Happy {Digital} Scrapping!

Top Five Biggest Losers

Inspired by DH's weight loss and a biggest losers (friendly) competition at work, I decided to do the biggest losers here too.  These are the recipes with the fewest downloads which is not to say they aren't good recipes but maybe they weren't well timed or something.  A couple have 0 downloads which makes me think I just managed to goof up the link.  Rest assured, these are good - I've tried them all!

1.  Toll House Cookies

0 downloads but this is a classic recipe that probably everyone has already.  Still if you need a pretty one....

2. Beach Pop Umbrellas

0 downloads but I posted this in February - probably the wrong time of year - LOL

3. Apple Squares

2 downloads.  A nice not too sweet recipe for dessert or brunch and it travels well for lunch or snack. For a long time this was DD#2's favorite treat.

4. Mexican Chicken

5 downloads.  This one is from Weight Watchers - what can I say?  It's easy, fast and pretty darn good.

5. White Bean Soup

1 download.  I found this recipe in a Martha Stewart's Living magazine.  Gee...I wonder if the one download was Martha herself?  Wouldn't that be cool?

Edited to add - I redid the Beach Pop Umbrellas link so hopefully that should now work!

Mother's Day

A few quotes for Mother's Day

The one thing children wear out faster than shoes is parents.

~John J. Plomp

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born.  She never existed before.  The woman existed, but the mother, never.  A mother is something absolutely new.

Mothers are fonder than fathers of their children because they are more certain they are their own.

Happy Mother's Day!

I'm Back...

I know it has been a bit quiet on my blog.  Not so in real life I'm afraid.

Between my mother being ill, some new challenges at work, one DD's up and coming bat mitzvah and the other DD's college/graduation stuff, it has been positively crazy around here.  First some  photos from tonight's prom.  I can't believe this is the last one for her and that she will be in college soon.  It looks like she will be going to Brandeis next year unless either Barnard or Univ of Michigan moves her off their waiting lists.  She has her fingers crossed for one of those since Brandeis is just a too little close to home.

I just got home yesterday from an emergency trip to Florida to move my mom up here.  She was planning on making the move this summer but suddenly developed severe pulmonary fibrosis in the process of being treated for lung cancer.  So she is now on oxygen and in hospice but we did manage to get her up here to a facility which was quite the trick.  One of my sisters came down to help pack up her and to start packing up her house.  One of the cool things is we found all sorts of wonderful old photos and piles of recipes so you know I will being doing something with those later.

Next weekend is DD#2's big day.  I heard her running through the service yesterday and she did a wonderful job. One good thing about my unexpected trip was that it gave all of us a chance to stop and assess what is really important for the bat mitzvah.  It turns out it was good to let some of this stuff go and I thank my dear friends for helping us out in a pinch.

So hopefully things will calm down a bit here and I can find some time to post recipes and do some scrapping!  Probably not until after next week though....
