A is for Apple
For the past few years I have planted apple trees in our yard. I usually plant at this time of year since the prices at the nursery at much better now than in the spring. And we have picked maybe a dozen apples each year from the 5 trees. But this year - a bumper crop of two huge baskets! Maybe it was the wet summer or maybe it was just the right year but it is wonderful.
I don't spray or use pesticides so these are organic apples and they aren't very pretty. The best harvest came from the tree near our driveway and if I ever knew what variety they are, I have long ago forgotten. They are definitely cooking apples - one bite and you face scrunches up because they are quite tart. So...I have been cooking...

These are low fat and not too sweet and Teen#2's absolute favorite. You could have these with coffee or use them as a dessert
