The digital world we live in is challenging the way we work and do business and touches every part of our lives. It does offer interesting opportunities and advantages. I am sure many of us would not want to return to the pre-digital era for our music. The MP3 format is much easier than records, cassettes or CDs. The point was brought home acutely for me when my daughter decided to create a plastic bowl out of a record as a gift by placing it over another bowl in the oven and letting it melt. It reminded me how fragile and non transportable music used to be.
The same advantage that allows us to easily load our MP3 players is a disadvantage for the music business and for the digital photography business too. Files and software is easily shared and printing photos isn't nearly the business it used to be.
I ran across an interesting article in a blog called Unpopular Ideas - Digital Media and Capitalism
Interesting idea. I didn't read that entire article (WAY too long today), but some things for thought.
